Ian M. Fraser, Executive Director A senior development officer in higher education and healthcare for more than 20 years, Ian began his career in fund-raising at Kingston General Hospital in 1983, as the first Director of Development (and later Vice-President) before accepting the role of Director of Development at Queen's University in 1995. Recognized as a Fellow for Life of the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP), he served as a faculty member with the annual AHP Fund-Raising Institute at the University of Wisconsin, Madison from 1989-1997, and as its Executive Director for two years (1995-1996). Ian is a past Chair of AHP Canada, and served on the AHP International Board of Examiners, the Association's body responsible for the development and administration of the profession's testing procedures and examinations. He has also served as AHP's International Vice-Chairman responsible for professional accreditation. Active in the Canadian Association of Gift Planners (CAGP*ACPDP) since its inception, Ian lectures extensively on all aspects of gift planning in Canada. An alumnus of the Banff Centre for Management's Gift Planning courses, he also served for two years as a faculty member there with Frank Minton and Lorna Somers. He continues to be an active member of several national and international professional associations including AHP, the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) and the Canadian Centre for Philanthropy. He is currently a member of the Kingston region CAGP-ACPDP Roundtable. Active as a volunteer in the Greater Kingston community, Ian is a Past-President of the Kingston-Frontenac Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Fellow. He recently completed a seven year term on the Board of Directors of the Community Foundation of Greater Kingston (CFGK), and continues to serve as a member of the CFGK Ambassadors Council. |
